So, I came across this quote:
“I think new writers are too worried that it has all been said before. Sure it has, but not by you.” Asha Dornfest
And it’s true.
There is a vast literary universe saturated with thinking and research on leadership, culture, well-being, coaching and emotional intelligence.
But then…if leadership development is a billion dollar industry…where are all the leaders?
And whilst culture is the intangible and invisible force driving productivity, efficiency and behaviour how can it be tangibly nailed to the wall when there are other behaviours playing out in the system?
And why can’t well-being simply be about being-well?
The answers to all of these questions are “- I don’t know” and “- it depends”.
What I can say is that there is clearly both richness and perspectives that we can all share in making sense of and contributing consistently to organisation life.
As an Australian working in some of the most innovative countries in the world - Japan, Finland and Singapore – I have enjoyed incredible learnings and immersive deep-dives into the cultural depths of working life across many countries, and; it’s this richness, that we must share and celebrate. The world gets smaller yet invariable more local, as people start reengaging with their community and identity in a highly ambiguous world.
I am passionate about people and helping leaders to harness and unleash that “intangible energy” that lies at the heart of every organisation. This happens one conversation at a time. An effective coaching process does pave the way for an exploration of beyond-conscious ideas. Helping people engage in their own visioning capabilities and focusing on what they want to create for themselves and their organisations is the real magic.
It’s about getting curious, being self-aware, exercising your smarts with open-ended questions , unleashing creative brainstorming and jumping into the mental-helicopter for a joy ride. The reality is that getting it all together requires slowing the mind. That’s where smart, commercially focused coaching comes in handy.
So, in this space of culture.co I’ll be blogging fresh insights and perspectives based on experience and relevant research. Finding practical and creative ways to mobilise every potential resource is critical now in many demanding change transformation situations – like mergers, turnarounds, re-alignments or start-ups. Bringing back the human into resources.
I’m passionate about:
- Solutions that can address and execute on “real world” scenarios impacting people in organisation life
- Coaching leaders to grow themselves and their business
- Working with individuals to accelerate capabilities
- Mobilising team energy to achieve business focus and
- Communicating with elegance and impact – and passing the smelly fish test!
Thanks for tuning in and stay tuned…
